Hilly's MX Memoirs - Mateship on the Track
My last race was Vic titles at Wonthaggi, which turned out to be a mixed day for me. I had not been to this track before and it was quite wet, so was unsure how I would go.
The track is a bit like an American style track with fast straights and corners, good jumps and perfect ruts. I finished the first race in 9th and was feeling really good and enjoying the track in my second race, coming 6th when I came off and snapped my handlebars. Gutted, I got back to the pits, thinking my day was done, Cory Watts appeared with a set of spare handlebars. I can't thank Cory enough for his help! Dad got the bike going for the last race and feeling sore and a little unsure I rolled in at 15th. Overall I finished 20th for the day so I wasn't too happy, but I have managed to keep my 12th position in the champs with one round remaining at Swan Hill. I cant wait to get there next month.
This weekend kicks off a couple of big weeks of racing. I am heading to Nhill to for the Pony Express on Saturday. I haven't raced this type of format before and have paired up with my mate to have some fun. Four hours of racing, will give our fitness a test!!
I follow up on Sunday with Horsham's round of the Western Region, where I am sitting just inside the top 10 in this series. We have had a few weeks off with races being cancelled due to the wet weather so am really keen to get back into it.
